My name is Michelle Longman and I live with my partner, at New Farm along with the Kilcavan gang. New Farm is a working arable farm that has been in the family for several generations.
I have been showing since I was quite young, too long ago...
My first dog was a very special beagle called Gina, Redhope Charity, whom I still miss. My mother stills owns, shows & breeds her beagles..well I handle them for her & my sister, you can find them on the Chatoyant Beagles page. Gina came to me in 1987 and I started showing...and the rest is history.
In fact dogs, showing & hunting, is in my blood.....
Below is my late Grandmother with one her dogs in the 1930's, Ouborough Rani from Arthur Rank's famous Ouborough Kennels of Great Danes.
This is my Mother, showing her standard smooth dachshund, Zita, in the 1960's..she may well shoot me for using this photo!
I was not able to show much while I was at University in Leeds, where I gained my BSc Hons in Animal Physiology & Nutrition. I then worked for several years in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. I now spend my time helping out on the farm, looking after my guys and I work part time for the charity Emmaus, who work with the homeless.
Below is Gina after she & I won our first ever rossette at a dog show! Before I began showing Gina all my rossettes had been for horse riding, life has never been the same since..
Here I am, a lot younger, showing Gina at Newmarket & District show in 1988
In 1997 I purchased my first Hamiltonstövare, Hattie. I had admired the breed for many years, in fact we looked at them before we got our first beagle, but waited until I was able to own one myself. Shortly after Hattie, Penny arrived too. I could not have asked for two better girls to introduce me to this wonderful breed.
