Our aim is to produce hounds that are fit, healthy, happy tempered and conform to the breed standard. We breed infrequently and are very proud of our reputation, there is always a waiting list for our puppies.

We reserve absolutely the right to refuse to sell a puppy and as a commitee member of the Hamiltonstövare Club of Great Britain we are governed also by their strict codes of ethics. All puppies are sold with binding terms & conditions of sale.
All our puppies are reared indoors, as members of the family. NOT in kennels at any stage of their life
All prospective Kilcavan puppy owners are vetted extremely thoroughly, but we also appreciate that you must be confident with your chosen breeder, so please do ask as many questions as you wish. We are happy to supply references so that people can contact, cold, others who have had dogs from Kilcavan over the years.
Below is a typical Kilcavan female Hamilton puppy, she is 3rd generation homebred at Kilcavan, we own great grandmother, grandmother & mother.
You can see clearly the conformation, even at this young age...Look especially at the depth of the chest, forechest, angulation clearly visible fore & aft, lovely head plains, reach of neck, good length of back, great bone and super tailset..This young lady hits the ring in 2008..watch out!!
We are extremely selective regarding which puppies may have "show potential" Only what we regard as the very best from each litter may go into the ring. The trap that we have seen many a novice hamilton "breeder" fall into is that a well marked puppy does not mean "show quality" puppy! There is much to consider when assessing the potential of any puppy for the ring. Knowing your lines, experience and an honest approach to the quality of what you have are essential. To breed the best, you breed only from the best.
Here is the same puppy now at 5 months old. You can see her depth of chest and forechest, essential. Superb angulation front & back, correct length of upper arm and plenty of width of thigh. Her length of neck is fantastic, again essential for a working hound, a short stumpy neck comes from poor front angulation. She also has a great length of back, beautiful head with strength, yet feminity. Super bone and feet. Her tailset is correct, as is her colouring & double coat. She is a lovely size for her age & not too high on the leg. She was such a good girl posing for the piccys..I think she knows she is a beauty!!
